Hyundai Lemon Law Attorneys

Hyundai is a multinational car manufacturer that is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. This company has the world’s largest car manufacturing company in South Korea and did not begin reaching the U.S. market until the 1980s. Hyundai is most known for its sedans, the Genesis, Sonata, Elantra, Tucson, and Santa Fe.

The Hyundai Genesis, a luxury sedan, was named the North American Car of the Year in 2009. Hyundai really picked up speed in its reputation in the U.S. in the past few decades, being known for its fuel-efficient vehicles at reasonable prices.

Recalls & Issues

Most modern cars are very well-equipped with safety features such as airbags, sensors, tempered glass, and crumple zones; however, one of the most important safety features in a car is its seatbelts. Hyundai faced some backlash from consumers in 2017 due to its faulty seatbelt design that was apparently detaching from the body of its cars during collisions.

Hyundai actually had to recall a massive amount of 6th generation Sonatas and Sonata hybrids due to the seatbelts not being fastened to the car’s inner body correctly. Later that year, there was a second recall on the Sonatas due to the seatbelts because the problem still had not been solved.

In 2018, Hyundai faced a massive lawsuit brought after there were over 300 customer complaints reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration over fires that were starting in Hyundai and Kia vehicles. In the lawsuit settlement, Hyundai agreed to give lifetime warranties to engines in their vehicles in the U.S.

After this incident, it is safe to say that Hyundai customers were skeptical of the manufacturer’s reliability.

Getting Out of Your Hyundai

California Lemon Law is in place to protect vehicle consumers from dealing with car defects on their own. The car manufacturer is given a reasonable number of attempts to repair the defect. If you own a Hyundai car that is a lemon, in other words, has a substantial defect, you may be entitled to relief from the manufacturer.
